Welcome!

This is a humorous and sarcastic blog written by a paralegal in a mid-sized law firm in a mid-tier market. The goal is to share some of the pitfalls and foibles encountered in my own day-to-day experiences. Feel free to contact me at aparalegalslife@gmail.com with comments. Complaints, not so much :)

Grumpy's Holiday Season

This time of year is not one of my favorites.  Last year at this time, I was in the midst of preparing for a large trial, and didn't get a chance to really do anything with the holidays.  Even Christmas Day was cut short, I ran in for dinner with my family and vanished back to the office a couple hours later.

This year, it's back to the normal routine.  Slow.  As in tick....

tock...

tick...

tock...

Between the light caseload, and everyone going away, there's just not much to do.  There's only so much time I can spend playing Brickbreaker on my Crackberry.  I really forgot just how God-Awful slow it can get at the end of the year.  At least in Litigation.  I actually start to envy the Corporate and M&A departments, who at least have deals to close by the end of the year.  Hell, there's not even much to blog about, since noone's around to annoy me.

Wait... is this what some people refer to as "being happy"?  I'm not sure.

Grumpy, at least you're not still trying to get things done whilst preparing for an office move on December 28. I tried to negotiate entry for the movers during the day, but the landlord said no - we must move AFTER close of business, because this building will be a HOTBED OF ACTIVITY during the week between Christmas and New Years. The only people we share this floor with are college students and administrators, who have been absent since the semester ended. My office manager was proud of my sarcasm to the landlord - she laughed when I informed her what I'd said.

But seriously, that is pretty ridiculous. I've only ever done one office move, and we were allowed to do it during the day with the proviso that we didn't block the driveway. Crazy.
