Welcome!

This is a humorous and sarcastic blog written by a paralegal in a mid-sized law firm in a mid-tier market. The goal is to share some of the pitfalls and foibles encountered in my own day-to-day experiences. Feel free to contact me at aparalegalslife@gmail.com with comments. Complaints, not so much :)

The Burdens of Competency

Lately, it seems I have been given an ever-increasing share of the workload, despite promises to the contrary by Useless Office Manager ("UOM").  Apparently UOM doesn't have the spine to tell the attorneys how busy I am and how not-busy some of the other Paralegals are, and that they need to transfer work to them.  As a result, they keep shifting work to me.  Apparently because they think I'm the only Paralegal in the office who can do the work.  I know that isn't true, but UOM apparentl doesn't have the balls to stand up for the Paralegals.

I think every office has the "pile it on the good paralegal" policy. It's disturbing that the person who accomplishes the most is responsible for the most, and usually the most behind. After a while, I tend to accept it as a compliment because change is impossible.
